Experience
I received my undergraduate degree in French education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. I have worked as a tutor in the past and as a student teacher. Both of these experiences have helped me develop the communication and organizational skills necessary to effectively communicate to individual students in a way that will resonate with their learning style and needs. By taking the time to get to know the student and their personal preferences it is possible to create an individualized program of learning that will be most beneficial for their academic situation. I currently tutor students in a variety of subjects, including French 1-4, conversational French, German 1 & 2, reading, writing, phonics, English grammar and syntax, and French culture. I am adept at helping students develop their writing skills through direct tutoring in the subject of writing and essay editing to help improve writing skills through real life examples. Additionally, I have found that many students benefit from improving their critical reading skills, study tactics, testing techniques, and organizational skills. I have worked with special education students and those that are gifted with equal success. I find it extremely rewarding to be a part of the process of transforming a struggling learner into one who attains understanding and pride in their academic achievements.
